According to a 2024 report from Measure of America, the rate of "disconnected youth" in the U.S.—young people aged 16-24 who are neither working nor enrolled in school—stands at 10.9%, or 4,343,600 individuals. This represents a significant portion of this age group who are not actively engaged in the workforce or education system. Such disconnection is concerning because it reflects a lack of access to critical opportunities for personal and professional growth. Without access to education, career training, or employment, these young people face serious barriers to long-term economic mobility. The consequences of this disconnection are far-reaching, impacting individuals, families, and entire communities socially and economically.

"Monica utilized her professional knowledge and experience to help me create a truly unique course, Culturally Responsive and Trauma-Informed Teaching to enhance our resources, tools, and guidance for our professional educators. We use this course as part of our in-depth and ongoing training of the tutors who work with our students. Our 22 tutors who have completed the course all report that the training has not only improved the way they teach students, but it has also improved their lives and the lives of our students. Furthermore, we offer the course to others outside our organization, spreading powerful information while helping to fund our tutoring program to expand our services! Thank you, Monica, for your dedication to helping me complete such a major project with huge implications! I could not have done this without you."

"Monica came to my organization offering to donate her services to support and build our administrative functions. While I was thrilled to receive support in this area, I wondered how much assistance we could get on a volunteer basis. But I was so pleased with the results. I gave Monica a list of areas that needed attention and she jumped on it! She provided an exemplary level of support, including helping us refine our evaluation tools and process and assess other administrative processes. She was knowledgeable, professional, committed, and a pleasure to work with. I'd hire her again in a second."
